Jury Finds or Ford and Britton Client in Assault Case

Scott Britton recently obtained a not guilty verdict on behalf of his construction company client in a trial in the Circuit Court of Cook County. The plaintiff alleged that he was assaulted by an employee of the Ford Britton client as the result of an altercation at a job site. Our attorneys were able to convince the jury that there was no agency between the company and the employee who committed the assault, and the jury also found that individual was not acting within the scope of his employment at the time of the occurrence. The plaintiff asked for $332,614 from the jury and was awarded $905 in a verdict against the codefendant, but a not guilty award was entered in favor of the construction company.
